Increased need
The field of Licensed/Vocational Practical Nursing is listed by the Ohio Office of Workforce Development as on of the "Occupations with High Employment Prospects in Ohio."

There are two reasons for this:

bulletThe aging of our population
bulletThe trend toward shorter hospital stays, requiring more home health nursing care

Work settings
Central School of Practical Nursing graduates work in a variety of settings, including:

bulletAcute care
bulletLong-term care
bulletSkilled nursing
bulletOutpatient clinics
bulletPhysician offices
bulletHome-based nursing services

Starting wages range from $18-$21/hour, with excellent benefit packages. Staffing agencies frequently employ our graduates for $25-$35/hour.

A myth to dispel:
"Places don't hire LPNs anymore!"
The truth: Although there was a time when it seemed LPNs were being "phased out," the pendulum has swung the other way and Central School of Practical Nursing receives numerous requests from health care facilities in dire need of LPNs.

Job fair for graduating students
Approximately two months before graduation, the school hosts a job fair, in which area health care facilities are invited to send a representative to recruit our students. Well-received by both students and the facilities, many of our graduates met their current employer at our job fair.

Additional employment assistance
Central School of Practical Nursing offers free career counseling and professional-quality résumé service to graduating students.
