When is your next available class?

We admit classes twice per year. Our next available class will start in October 2010.

Do you have a waiting list?

No. Our next available class will be fall 2010, and we do not have a waiting list.

When is the entrance exam being given?

Please see this page for all the most current entrance exam information.

How much does the entrance exam cost?

The entrance exam fee is $40 and is non-refundable.

Will you accept my entrance exam score that I took somewhere else?

Unfortunately, due to a change in policy, we are unable to accept entrance exam scores taken elsewhere. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Where is the school located?

Our address is 4600 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. We are on the southeast corner of East 46th and Carnegie. For directions, click here.

What are the application requirements?

You must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED with a score of 500 or higher. You must also pass an entrance exam at the school.

What are the hours of the program?

Expect to be in class from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Expect to be at your clinical site from 7:00 or 7:30 AM to 2:30 or 3:00 PM. If necessary, evening hours will be from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Hours on duty in Community Nursing clinicals will vary with the individual assignment.

What do students wear to class and clinicals?

Students wear scrubs of their choosing to class. They wear the School uniform to lab and clinicals.

Do you offer evening or weekend, or part-time classes?

Unfortunately, we do not offer evening or weekend classes. Our program is full-time, daytime, Monday through Friday only.

Are there any prerequisites?

We do not require any prerequisite coursework. Applicants must, however, meet the basic requirements as listed above.

How are admissions decisions made?

In making admissions decisions, CSPN looks at your entire file, including entrance exam scores, transcripts, references, personal statement, etc. We reserve the right to accept the most qualified applicants.

When do classes start?

New classes start two times per year, in April and October.

How long is the program?

One calendar year, or 46 weeks to be exact.

How much does it cost?

The total cost of the program for the fall 2010 class will be: $11,050. This amount covers classes, clinicals, and labs. There are additional costs for uniforms and books.

Is financial aid available?

Yes! Financial assistance is available to those who qualify through Pell grants, student loans, and scholarship money (available through the school and elsewhere). For more information on financial aid, click here.

Do you have campus housing?

No. Students are from Northeast Ohio and live independently or with their family.

How many students are in a class?

Each class has seating for up to 45 - 50 students.

What's a typical week like?

CSPN has a 4-day week. Students are in class 2˝ days per week, and 2 days per week are spent in clinicals (hands-on training at hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, etc.) This program is full time, daytime, Monday through Friday.

What type of certification do students receive?

Upon completing the program, students attend a graduation ceremony and receive a Certificate of Completion.

Does your program offer IV therapy?

Yes, IV therapy is an integral part of the program throughout all four levels. Upon licensure in the State of Ohio, you will be allowed to perform IV therapy as part of your scope of practice.

Is your school accredited?

Yes. CSPN is ABHES (Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools) accredited and approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing, receiving the maximum five (5) year approval.

Is the certificate the same as a license?

No. As soon as you complete the program, you are eligible to take the National Council of Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).

How many students usually pass?

Central School of Practical Nursing is proud to report that 92% of our graduates pass NCLEX the first time they take it, which exceeds that national average of 87.25%.
